Skincare goes beyond soaps and serums.
Anyone with great skin will tell you that it didn’t get that way overnight. Or, maybe they won the gene lottery and did; but most of us have to put in effort to get the Hailey Bieber glazed skin effect.
When you think of it logically it makes sense, skincare is a part of your hygiene routine and helps to ensure that your face is free from dirt, dust, and anything else we may encounter in the world. Putting in more effort into ensuring that your skin is clean allows for your pores to naturally glow and avoids any of the wrinkles or early-aging that poor skin care can cause.
If you are looking to up your routine to the next level, here are some devices that you can add to your bathroom cabinet to make it feel like you got a facial at home:
Facial Steamer, If you have read my favorite tips under my “About Me” page, then you’ll know that I am a big advocate for steam to relieve acne. A hot towel can help to spot-treat a pesky pimple, but my favorite method is using an all-over facial steamer. Steam allows for your pores to open and helps your skin naturally purge any of the oil trapped on your face. By using a facial steamer for five to ten minutes, you can help hydrate your skin and calm active acne.
Facial Razors, Anything you put on your face you want to absorb into your skin. Facial razors give an added exfoliation with multiple benefits. Removing the peach fuzz on your face helps to avoid products sticking to any facial hairs and allows for products to get deeper into the skin. Your makeup will also benefit from face shaving because it will lay nicer and apply more evenly without the buffer of facial fuzz. However, shaving your face may already be a part of your routine for a different reason. If you are like me and get a dark upper lip, don’t stick to shaving the one spot, shave your whole face!
Ultrasonic Exfoliating Spatula, The best part of a facial is the extractions. It is not the most relaxing part, but it is the best for your overall complexion. My ultrasonic spatula gives me facial-level extractions at home. The metal tip vibrates and when run across your face, it lifts the dirt and sebum out of your skin. Picking at your face could cause unintentional breaks or tears in the skin. This device helps to avoid that because the ultrasonic vibration is gentle enough not to rip at your skin, but targets any impurities and removes them.
Sonic Beauty Bar, This last product I would describe as a Gua Sha on crack. The beauty bar is a vibrating facial bar that helps to drain the lymphatic fluid in your face. Like a Gua Sha, you can use it to sculpt your face, but the added bonus of the vibration helps to break up the fluid to allow it to move more easily. This device can help with any tension areas in your face and is especially great for smoothing any incoming lines on your face. Beauty can be painful, but I often find myself using my beauty bar while watching a tv show and relaxing on the couch. This is one device that makes skincare feel relaxing and calming.
